Create your own Audio Affirmation
Creating your own audio affirmation is a great way to develop, at no cost, a customized recording to assist you on your path to abundance.
Once you have developed your custom affirmation, you can play your audio back in
your iPod, burn an audio CD to play in the car, or to play as your wake up audio
in your alarm clock. The more positive exposure you have to your affirmations,
the better. You can listen to this audio in your spare time, while in meditation
mode, or ideally just before you head to bed at night.
Things you will need : a recording device, a list of affirmations, someone to
read the affirmations to record, and a playback method.
In this step by step example below, I will show you how to compile your own
affirmation audio using your computer, a microphone, free online software to
record edit and save the audio into a MP3 file so you can play it back on your
iPod, burn a CD or simply play it on your computer.
Steps to create your own Audio Affirmation
- Compile a list of affirmations you are going to use to create your affirmation audio
- Download a copy of Audacity, http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ , a free audio recording and editing software, install it on your computer
- Ensure your microphone source on your computer is valid and functioning so you can record the audio you are about to create ;)
- On your computer, Open the Audacity software
- When you open Audacity, in the top right hand corner you have available to you the main menu. Just below that, you have your recording control panel. When you are ready to start, click on the record icon, the round red button, and start reading your affirmations. Read your affirmations, slowly, in a calm relaxed voice, and don't worry if you mispronounce a word or get stuck, just re-read the affirmation, you will be able to edit the recording to perfection once you have completed reading it.
- Once you have completely read your affirmation, click the stop button, which is located near the record button, it is a mustard colored square icon.
- Before we edit this audio, let's save it. Under the file menu, select: File, then select, Save Project As. Once you have selected a location on your hard drive to save the Audacity file, name the file, Affirmation, then save.
- To listen to your newly created audio, click on the track window, and click the play button, the green arrow located at the top left menu.
- Once you've listened to your audio, if you are happy with the results and do not require any edits to the file, simply return to the file menu, and select: Export as MP3 save this file onto your computer as an mp3 file and you are ready to play this file on your computer, iPod or burn it onto a CD.
- If you want to remove a portion of the audio where perhaps there is too much blank space, or you re-started a sentence, highlight the area you wish to remove, by clicking on track window and hold down your left mouse button drag and highlighting the area you want to remove and release the left mouse button, and before you delete it, click the play button to play the highlighted area and ensure you've selected the correct area to delete. Once you confirmed by listening to it, that you want to delete that section, simply click on Edit, in the file menu, then select: CUT. Note: If you play the recording once you've cut a section and you've accidentally removed a section of the audio and you want to recover it, you can "undo" the last function you've processed on the file. If you cannot "undo" the error, simply reload the original copy of the audio we saved earlier and start editing again.
- Once you are happy with the changes, save the file, and then export the file as an MP3.
